Biography

Yoandy Suárez Suárez was born in Matanzas, Cuba, in 1984. He grew up by the sea, surrounded by nature and culture, which contributed to his lifelong appreciation for the emotional, spiritual, and essential aspects of things around him.
During his teenage years, his interests were cultivated and developed, providing him with the opportunity to study at the School for Art Teachers (EIA), where he graduated in 2004 in his hometown with a degree as an art teacher and a Bachelor’s in Humanities.
After completing his studies, he began teaching art while simultaneously developing as a visual artist.

He contributed to the training of young talents and actively participated in various cultural projects, which enabled him to travel extensively to Europe and Asia.
Back in Cuba, he studied and graduated in 2014 from the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) with a diploma in the conception, production, and execution of musical performances. In 2023, he completed his studies in the Art of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, specializing in easel painting, at the Institute of Art (ISA) in Havana.

His works have been exhibited in Asia, Europe, the USA, and Cuba. In addition to painting, he developed a strong interest in sculpture, particularly in the field of ferrocement.
Several of his permanent murals can be admired in Matanzas and at the Omara Portuondo Cultural Center in Havana.

He presented his works at the Havana Biennial 2019, at the Plaza de la Revolución, in the Fábrica de Arte Cubano, and as a member of the community and socio-cultural project Imagen 3 on the Paseo del Prado in Havana, and is actively involved in training new talents and presenting his works there.

He currently lives in Gran Canaria, Spain, and continues to seek answers to his artistic and human existence.
